Love this, as I can very much relate!! Although I’m still working on it, traveling has helped me slow down and learn how to actually, properly rest. Found that rest in many of the same places you mention 🌄
I'm happy to hear this and cool that you've been to many of the same places! Healing from burnout can take longer than we think, so it's good that you're taking your time.
So glad you found it! Love this line: "Some days, all I did was lie in a hammock and read." When we're wired, something as simple as this--relaxing in a hammock--seems so tough. It's also cool to watch animals and see how they react to daily life--they sleep when they're tired. And we should too! (or try to . . .) Your perseverance is inspiring.
Ahh yes I loved those days in Bali, they were so nourishing. It's true we can get so caught up in everything needing to be productive and feel guilty when we need to rest. We can learn a lot from animals!
Hi there, thanks for your thoughtful comment. It also took me a long time - and I suffered from daily shoulder ache too - but it's hard to pull away from the life and career you've built. It's definitely not essential to visit multiple countries. Extended time away from your normal environment and routine, somewhere you find calming and inspiring, would help you gain perspective and unwind. For me I needed to fully quit my job and travel was the key to my healing.
I love the content, and special thanks for the format. Short paragraphs are rest for the reading mind!
Thanks for your comment! Yeah I'm not a big fan of enormous walls of text 😉
This is so interesting. I love your interpretations of each country. I live in a country that has rest weaved into every grain of its culture!
Thanks - that sounds wonderful!
